MARRIED MEN’S GROUP

The married men’s group is a support group for men who are or who once were in a long term opposite sex relationship but who are now experiencing same sex attraction.

The group has been running for a number of years and is facilitated by trained Switchboard volunteers. The group however, is very much peer led and provides the participating men with a safe and confidential space in which they can discuss their situation.

The group is non directive, and has no agendas. Members are not being led in any particular direction.

What is available is support from other men in a similar situation. Everyone’s journey is unique but there are many similarities and shared experiences that the members have.

For many men in this situation, life can be very difficult, you can feel as if you are living in a storm, that is wreaking havoc with your life. What the group shows participants is that they are not alone, that there are others who either are in the same situation or who were at some stage in their lives. For those living in that storm, the group can often prove to be a harbour in which they can find some solace. The help and advice of other members of the group can be invaluable for anyone going through this turmoil.

If you feel that this group may be of benefit please feel free to join us. Attending your first meeting may seem very daunting, but be assured of a very warm welcome and try and remember that everyone in the group made that trip over the threshold for the first time at one stage.
